Santa Fe

Rollin' into Santa Fe on the Old Pecos Trail with my buddy by my side was such a relief after all the hours on the cruel, hard truck-infested highway.
We sang from the Eagles "Desperado" and watched the snow-capped mountains loom ever closer as we inched our way home.

The friends on the arroyo on the street of the bear were hospitable as ever, wonderful people who just brighten up your day without even trying. After some altitude and attitude adjustment, we settled down for some catching up, then had a great dinner at Zia Diner.

After some kind of time passed (hard to say how much, here in the land of pocotiempo), the rest of our company repacked and set out for West, EverWest. I diverged and immediately began visiting old journalism friends and other professionals here whom I've known for decades.

I also visited Taos Plaza and sold a couple of books, then returned to SFe via the "High Road to Taos." The photo here is one of the aforementioned snow-capped mts., but these are hidden in interior valleys.

Yesterday, I listened to Western style bluegrass at Cowgirls and visited with a friend en el barrio de San Francisco. In the meantime, the mountains are waiting and I have an opening in Taos to attend and a general store at La Cueva to contact about a few books. I do love my life here.

ok; so, glad you're home again and feelin' good. but, how do these blogs work. am i the only one responding. i hate to have your awesome writing (and bb's) only read by me. so is anyone else answering? if so, where are their comments? i think...where would i go to go back home? or maybe find a new one...and why do i have to do the word verification every time i send a blog? does blog have a meaning? is it an ancronym? back to work verification--most of the time i'm given a second one bcause i can't read the first one. ouch, another chip to the ego. are you getting my posts?

Hi, Lynda-
Most of our friends do not have blog accounts and so they are just reading the blog. They could get a blog account if they wanted to, but I guess they prefer not to. My friend Chris, who is my co-teacher in the Beats class, has replied to a couple of the early ones. So you are not the only one writing. But just remember, anybody can read these things and if anybody googled "oh ducklings" or other key words, they can find our blog, so we put more philosophical/experiential info on the blog and keep the more personal info of less general interest for emails. Practically, anybody can read this blog. Realistically, probably the only readers are our dear friends and family who have been told about it. I think blog is short for Web log. I always laugh because blague in french is 'joke". quelle blague!
I think this blog site allows a blog creator to limit the access to the blog to gmail holders, but still any gmail holders has access. If you go to www.blogger.com you can learn how to set one up and learn what the ground rules are for this blog. You also can search blogs by keyword and find other people's blogs. Also, at the top left are arrow keys and the words "next blog" that will just take you to another blog. They may be alphabetical- I haven't figured that out.
The word verification is required of everybody to make sure you are a person and not an automatic web responder. It is a safety feature.
Glad you are reading! I have to post some pictures for el comanchero's comments, and I have to post some adventures of my own. It is hard to find time. We are either adventuring or sleeping.
